Spring at the TSO!

This April the TSO Marks the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Richard Strauss, Features a Canadian Première From JUNO award-winning composer Vivian Fung, Celebrates Spring with Operatic Love Songs, and Parties Mardi Gras Style!
March 6, 2014 - A deeply respected pianist, Richard Goode has been playing Mozart with unsurpassed skill and taste for 50 years. In April, Goode joins the TSO to perform Mozart’s delightful Piano Concerto No. 17 which showcases the composer at his most positive, lively and lyrical. Goode shares the programme with TSO Concertmaster Jonathan Crow, who will be featured in Richard Strauss’s personally charged tone poem, Ein Heldenleben (A Hero’s Life), one of his most virtuosic orchestral works and a cheeky self-portrait. The concert opens with the Canadian première of Vivian Fung’s Aqua, a striking work inspired by the architectural design of Chicago’s 82-story skyscraper Aqua Tower. Prior to Toronto performance, the TSO will tour this programme to Maison Symphonique de Montreal (April 8) and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa (April 9).
