Musicians from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra present an educational
and entertaining introduction to orchestral instruments to students
from kindergarten through to grade 8.
These in-school presentations offer a variety of experiences, such
as performance, story-telling and instrument demonstrations. Students
sit close to the musicians and are invited to ask questions and
actively participate in the programme. Presentations typically take
place in the school library or gymnasium and reach between 150 to 300
students.
Over 25,000 students were visited by Preludes musicians in their school in the 2006.2007 season.
Feedback from students after attending a Preludes performance in their school:
"Thank you for the best performance. I loved it! I learned a lot
and had so much fun. You inspired me and someday I would like to play
the trumpet and be like all of you!"
- Ella, Branksome Hall School
"It was so fun to watch. I cannot decide which instrument was my favourite- They all sounded amazing."
– Brooke, Branksome Hall School
"I loved your presentation. It was neat to learn about a lot of different instruments."
– Linda, West Prep Public School
"I enjoyed the different kinds of songs you played because they
were so well performed. I think I would love to be a musician when I
grow up!"
– Katherine, Light of Christ School
