2009.2010 Season
Azul
Osvaldo Golijov's music defies all labels and crosses all boundaries, intermingling classical, liturgical, musical theatre, klezmer and tango into a heady, supremely appealing mixture. This all-Golijov concert displays many facets of his style. The internationally acclaimed soprano Dawn Upshaw makes her TSO début with the three songs that Golijov composed especially for her, and cellist Alisa Weilerstein takes centre stage in Azul, an homage to the sublime slow movements of the Baroque era. A recent work by Kelly-Marie Murphy completes the bill.
