"Since my debut in Toronto at Massey Hall
in 1970, I have always felt welcomed by
this orchestra and by the city of Toronto.
This is an international orchestra led by
my friend Peter Oundjian, who at one
point, years ago, I had the pleasure of
teaching violin. It is such a joy to see what
Peter has developed in this fine city and
how the audience supports his ideas."
- ITZHAK PERLMAN
Itzhak Perlman Residency April 2012
Itzhak Perlman is a man who needs no introduction to music
lovers in Toronto. He has performed or conducted with the
TSO almost annually since his first appearance as soloist in
1970. This year, in honour of the 90th season, Mr. Perlman will
perform two amazing concerts on subscription series, and will
also be featured conductor in a third programme. For this
special concert, alongside his work on the podium, he will
perform with his former student, Peter Oundjian, in the beautiful
and timeless Concerto for Two Violins by Bach. Also while in
Toronto, Mr. Perlman will engage with Toronto Symphony Youth
Orchestra members and other young Toronto musicians.
