2012.2013 Season
Haydn & Beethoven
Alexandre Tharaud,
piano
Conductor Bernard Labadie showcases the genius of Joseph Haydn in this inviting programme. It features one of this master symphonist's most delightful creations, nick-named "The Clock" for the "tick-tock" sounds in the second movement. Soloist Alexandre Tharaud performs the suave Concerto in D Major, which climaxes in a flashing, Hungarian-flavoured finale. In Beethoven's cheerful Symphony No. 1, he showed how much he learned from Haydn, his teacher-but he began blazing his own trail, as well.
