Mahler Symphony of a Thousand
Peter Oundjian,
conductor
At the first performance of this work, Mahler’s Eighth Symphony engaged over 1,000 performers. This awe-inspiring spectacle calls for a huge orchestra, organ, double choir, children's choir, and eight vocal soloists. Opening with a stirring medieval hymn setting, it concludes with a virtual concert opera setting of Goethe’s Faust. A don't-miss occasion!
