The sensational French pianist, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, performs two captivating works: Franz Liszt’s wittily macabre Totentanz, and Guillaume Connesson’s spellbinding piece, The Shining One, which is dedicated to him. Guest conductor Stéphane Denève, Music Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, bookends the programme with two French dance scores: Dukas’ opulent fairy tale, La Péri, and Florent Schmitt’s darkly atmospheric look at the decadent middle-eastern princess, Salome.

Speaker Listen to the Liszt 200th Anniversary Podcast with TSO National Piano Competition winners Todd Yaniw and Alexander Seredenko reflecting on their experiences listening to, learning, and performing Liszt's works.
