2010.2011 Season
Sibelius Violin Concerto
These performances of Jean Sibelius’s intense, brooding
Violin Concerto bear an authentic Nordic pedigree.
Jukka-Pekka Saraste, former TSO Music Director,
hails from Finland, and violinist Henning Kraggerud is
Norwegian. You’ll also hear Shostakovich’s Symphony
No. 4, whose première was delayed for 25 years because
the Soviet authorities of the 1930s would have condemned
its harrowing passions and biting edge.
On Oct. 14 at 7:15pm, join Rick Phillips for a relaxed and enlightening discussion about the performance, with a Pre-Concert Chat in the lobby.
