2009.2010 Season
Sibelius Festival I
Thomas Dausgaard,
conductor
The opening concert of the Sibelius Festival celebrates the Finnish giant's roots in the Romantic tradition. You'll first savour the rich orchestration and the intense yearning of Symphony No. 1, before passing on to the leaner palette of colours, yet still epic and triumphant moods of Symphony No. 2. In between, violinist Pekka Kuusisto explores the winsome charms of the Humoresques.
On April 14 at 7:15pm, join Rick Phillips for a relaxed and enlightening discussion about the performance, with a Pre-Concert Chat in the lobby.
Intermission Lobby Chat with featured performers.
Please note – the April 15 concert will have an intermission.
