Grieg Piano Concerto & Elgar Enigma Variations
Outstanding compositions from Scandinavia and England share the bill on this richly emotional programme. Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg's evergreen piano concerto, a melodious theatre score by Jean Sibelius, and a tribute to Bach created by Sibelius's fellow Finn, Magnus Lindberg, represent the north. The gallery in which Sir Edward Elgar lovingly and wittily portrayed his closest friends carries the banner for England.
