Members of the Orchestra

Audrey King, cello
Audrey King was born in Seattle, Washington, where she grew up in a family with a rich musical background. Her mother and grandfather both played cello professionally, and her grandmother was a pianist. By the age of 17 she had appeared as a soloist with the Seattle Symphony and the University of Washington symphony, and had a busy string quartet as well.

Ms. King graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California. She then spent a year in Denmark studying contemporary cello repertoire under the auspices of the Marshall Fellowship program. In 1975, she earned a Master of Music degree in performance and literature from the University of Toronto.

A member of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra since 1971, Ms. King. has always tried to include chamber music in her life. She was a founding member of the St. Andrews Consort and the Janson Trio and has appeared regularly on the 5 Small Concerts series and on the Toronto Symphony Evening Overtures concerts.

An enthusiastic cook, Audrey also enjoys playing in the kitchen and moonlighting as a recipe tester for a cookbook publisher.
